The Vagina Monologues

I know this sounds dirty or scandalous but I would like all of you to suspend your judgement for a while and read on:

NUS VDAY, in collaboration with NUS TSSOC (Theatre Studies Society), is putting up a production of Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues, a series of powerful and intimate monologues which are performed as part of an international campaign to stop violence against women.

Dates: 3rd, 4th and 5th of March 2006, 8 pm
Venue: University Cultural Centre, Dance Studio
Tickets: $8
Dress code: Sitting on the floor comfortable

You can read more about VDAY here.

Anyone from the lit class (or otherwise) who is interested in going, please inform me asap.

(These monologues are more commonly performed over university campuses by university students in the United States (my ex-JC classmate once performed in the Georgetown University version) as part of efforts to raise awareness on the issue of violence against women.)

a reason for lit

i take literature because its relaxing and beautiful.

"What a beautiful face I have found in this place that is circling all round the sun! What a beautiful dream that could flash on the screen in a blink of an eye and be gone from me! Soft & sweet, let me hold it close and keep it here with me. One day we will die and our ashes will fly from the aeroplane over the sea. But for now we are young. Let us lay in the sun and count every beautiful thing we can see. I love to be in the arms of all I'm keeping here with me.
What a curious life I have found here tonight! There is music that sounds from the street. There are lights in the clouds. Soft & sweet, how the notes all bend and reach above the trees. And now..we keep where we don't know all secrets sleep in winter clothes. When we meet on a cloud, I'll be laughing out loud! I'll be laughing with everyone I see..
I can't believe how strange it is to be anything at all."
